This is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release a person, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record. The Sheriff, detention center, police department, court, or corrections agency that maintains the record must answer those questions directly.
Where to Ask for a Record
Pulaski County has two county-level FOIA paths. The Detention Center is the stronger first contact for a booking, custody, release, discharge, transfer, or legally releasable booking photo. The Sheriff’s FOIA Officer is the route for records maintained by the Sheriff’s Office. Neither office posted separate public hours in the material reviewed, so call or write before visiting.

The county’s official Sheriff and Detention Center pages link their FOIA instructions. A request should name the date range, agency, case number or location, and the record fields sought. Ask for electronic delivery, segregable non-exempt material, the reason for a denial, and an estimate before accepting a charge. Illinois FOIA provides an ordinary five-business-day response period with a limited extension process.
- For a booking or custody record, use the Pulaski County Detention Center information and its FOIA officer.
- For a Sheriff arrest or incident file, use the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and its FOIA route.
- For a Mounds, Mound City, or Ullin municipal arrest, confirm the current police or city-clerk custodian. The city pages identify dated contact leads where research found them.
- For a warrant question, use the court or responsible agency. No verified county automated warrant portal or separate warrants-unit line was found.
- For a recently reported event, the Arrest News page names regional sources, but a news story is not a complete booking log.
- For a sentenced Illinois prisoner, use the IDOC individual-in-custody search.
- For federal prison or immigration custody, use the BOP locator or ICE locator according to the custody type.
Bring the Right Details
A narrow request is easier for a custodian to locate and less likely to mix people or agencies. Include the exact event date or a short date window, the city or facility, the arresting agency if known, a case or booking number, and the record type. Ask for a photo as a conditional item, since a photograph may not exist or may not be releasable.
For a later legal result, compare the response with the Circuit Clerk or Judici. A release from jail does not end a court case. A transfer does not prove a disposition. A booking charge can be changed or dismissed. The official record owner is the right place to report a mistaken name, date, charge, or custody field.
